The Veterinary Emergency Service has a veterinarian available 24 hours a day to see your pet for emergency care. We are also a full service intensive care hospital able to provide 24 hour monitoring and treatment for critically ill patents.

What to Expect

Upon arrival you will be greeted by an experienced veterinary technician who will assess your pet’s condition. If it is determined that your pet requires immediate assistance the technician will request your permission to bring your pet directly to our treatment area for evaluation. All patients are seen on the basis of medical priority with life threatening cases first.


Services


STAT LABORATORY BLOOD TESTS

Complete Blood Count (CBC), Serum biochemical analysis, Urinalysis, Blood lactate measurement, Coagulation (clotting) testing, Ethylene glycol (antifreeze) testing, Cortisol Blood Levels, Phenobarbitol blood levels, Thyroid Levels.


SCANNING ULTRASOUND

Scanning ultrasound is utilized primarily to evaluate for free fluid in the chest or abdomen. It is of vital importance in all trauma patients to assess for internal bleeding. This procedure is non-invasive and requires minimal handling so can also be used to check animals with breathing problems and sudden weakness with little stress.


DIGITAL X-RAYS

With digital radiography our doctors are able to adjust size and contrast of image.  Measurement tools are built into the software to allow for precise evaluation normal organs, masses, joint angles etc..  All x-rays are emailed to your day time doctor so that they can become a part of your pet’s permanent record.


Soft tissue emergency surgical procedures

(Including but not limited to) Wound repair, Chest tube placement, Tracheostomy, Feline urethrostomy. Abdominal surgeries; GDV, GI foreign, C-section, splenectomy , bladder stone removal


ELECTROCARIOGRAM EKG

ECG allows us to evaluate patients with heart disease for arrhythmias to provide better management of their condition.  Anesthetic patients have continual ECG monitoring for immediate detection of changes in heart rate or rhythm. ECG’s are also checked in pet’s that have ingested some toxins, or for medical conditions that can cause secondary heart problems.


SPECIALIZED TREATMENTS

24 hour in hospital monitoring, Intravascular volume expansion /shock fluid therapy, Blood and plasma transfusion therapy, Supplemental oxygen (ICU) kennels, Pain medication via constant rate IV infusion, Nutritional support, IV catheter placement, CPR, Anesthesia high risk patients
